10 Lessons to becoming a better mover

As I sit and reflect back on the community we created in 2021, I am in awe that our values and message on movement has rippled out and affected so many peoples lives! I want to say thank you for being such a special part of our community. And as we kick off 2022 I want to share with you some of our most valuable lessons in movement:

  1. There is no such thing as good or bad movement exercises. Every one has different strengths, weaknesses and limitations which means there is no one cookie approach that works every time. When you learn to more about your body when you move you can become your own coach.
  2. You don’t stop exercising because you grow old, you grow old because you stop exercising. Your practice may have ebbs on flows but when you are committed to a movement lifestyle you never stop moving.
  3. Sitting with “bad posture” is not bad for you, being sedentary is. It is not an issue of position, but rather an issue of repetition. Movement is always the best medicine.
  4. Don’t be that person whose body breaks down in their 30s and 40s because all they cared about is how they looked. Build your body now for the long haul if you want to continue to live life to the fullest.
  5. You don’t have to choose between strength and flexibility. You can have both, if you consistently incorporate mobility. The better your joints work the better you’ll be at creating movement .
  6. High tech shoes, equal low tech feet, & if you want a high tech body, learn to move with minimal or no equipment. Learn to move the way you were designed, you don’t need expensive equipment for this.
  7. Train in a way you can continue for the rest of your life. Consistency with intention is the what is going to see progress.
  8. Now is the time for self care, commit to making it a lasting part in your life.
  9. The small habits count too. Your self talk, how you spend your mornings, how you breathe – all these little things will change your life.
  10. Your intention matters. You cannot shame your way to wellness or heal a body you hate. Give yourself an extra dose of self love and check in on your intentions before you start a new program.

So there it is, on to another year of our online membership, new courses, cultivating new connections and lots more fun reels on the gram & tik tok! 🤪
